About The Event
Bob Brody, will be the moderator for the event! He has lived in Queens for over 40 years and his memoir, "Playing Catch With Strangers" has chapters celebrating the borough. His personal essays appear regularly in The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal, among many other publications.
GUEST PANELISTS
Carl Ballenas is award-winning teacher, author, and local historian. He has written and co-written five books on Queens: Images of America Kew Gardens, Jamaica, Maple Grove Cemetery, Richmond Hill, and Jamaica Estates.
Joe DiStefano is a Queens-based food writer and culinary tour guide. He is the founder and publisher of the Queenscentric food blog CHOPSTICKS & MARROW, and a co-founder of New York Epicurean Events and Queens Dinner Club. His work has appeared in The New York Times, Gourmet, Food Republic, and Serious Eats. His latest, 111 Places in Queens You Must Not Miss, was released this January with great success!
Adrienne Onofri is a journalist, and a licensed sightseeing guide. She has written Walking Queens: 30 Tours for Discovering the Diverse Communities, Historic Places, and Natural Treasures of New York City's Largest Borough.
Michael Perlman is a native Forest Hills resident, the writer of 'Legendary Locals of Forest Hills and Rego Park', a columnist, editor, and public relations consultant. He is chairman of Rego-Forest Preservation Council and a recipient of the Historic District Council's 2014 Grassroots Preservation Award.
It will be held at the Center of Maple Grove's Celebration Hall at 7 PM.
