Friends of Maple Grove hosted a Memorial Day Service on Saturday, May 23, 2015.
On May 23 we had a lovely Memorial Day Ceremony at Maple Grove Cemetery. The weather was wonderful!
The service was enhanced by the attendance of The St. Mary's High School Teen Choir led by Andrew Koslosky and Pat White. The young students assisted in placing flags on the graves of Veterans. They fanned out and, in a very respectful manner, located Veteran graves and placed a flag at each. It was moving to watch such reverence. They were assisted by some volunteers including Shyloh Boursiquo and Marco and Giovanni Vittozi.
The ceremony took place by the lake facing the flag over the 9/11 Memorial on Presidential Circle. The area was set up with the help of Steven Martinez, Alex Samaroo and Helen Day. Also in attendance was a group of Vietnam War Veterans who formed an Honor Guard. Shyloh and Giovanni assisted with the Color Guard.
Andrew opened the ceremony with the Pledge of Allegiance and singing of the National Anthem which was performed as an incredible solo by a young member of the St. Mary's group.
The ceremony ended with the inspirational performance of Taps on a bugle by one of the Vietnam War Veterans.
Thanks to all of those who assisted and helped make this event possible. It was an exceptionally moving event.
We have a wonderful team and we can accomplish a lot!
Please look at these wonderful photos!
Thank You.
