Spirits Alive – A self-guided walking tour: Commemorating the 150th anniversary of the end of the Ci

Updated: Oct 13, 2020

Friends of Maple Grove presented Spirits Alive – A self-guided walking tour on Saturday, September 26, 2015.

On September 26, 2015, Spirits Alive was blessed by extremely beautiful weather. We had an extremely awesome and handsome group of actors who came and participated this year. Andrew had many of his students from St. Mary's School come and take roles and they did a wonderful job and should be commended for their hard work. The idea for the Coward Wedding was a brilliant stroke and added so much to the event. We hired Ludger to set up a mini Civil War Camp to mark the 150th Anniversary of the end of the Civil War and of course he out did himself and created multiple displays. He had a mini camp that honored Joseph Teagle and even brought a ship's cannon! Shyloh took so well to playing the role of Teagle. The Civil War Diorama, Ludger set up in the double car garage was INCREDIBLE and took hours to set up! He also had a number of friends who came to act in full costume. We also had a Japanese film crew that created a segment about Spirits Alive for a Japanese audience. This year we had a very special treat when Russ Pfalzer, a descendant of the Pfalzer Family in the Maple Section brought a treasure trove of family heirlooms and photos. His display was absolutely wonderful! We had a wonderful group of volunteers this year led by Alex and Julio Ulloa. Thank you to Inderia and her daughter who showed up to watch a table, as well as Maria! There were also a few SJU students who came. Thank you to Bonnie for making the wonderful Goodie Bags and helping all throughout the day with her crew! An event like this, takes a lot of hours! We are a small group but what we accomplish is extraordinary!
