Free Summer Anti-Boredom Kits for Kids Giveaway

Greetings!

The Friends of Maple Grove hosted an incredible Girl Scout Event in front of the Victorian Building at the Lefferts Blvd. and Kew Gardens Road Gate on Saturday, July 11, 2020 from 12 to 3 PM.

Julianna Schiefer and ELia Mises of Girl Scout Troop 4098, who are earning a Girl Scout Badge, created SUMMER ANTI-BOREDOM KITS that they have put together for kids of all ages in the community. These fantastic kits contain books, markers, crafts, games, small toys etc. All the kits were free and catered to children from Preschool to High School.

The young scouts and their parents came early on Saturday and set up a table with boxes of kits. Throughout the event many cars and walk-ins stopped by and were absolutely delighted and at the same time, astonished by the variety and quality of the kits! They were shocked and extremely thankful!

The scouts posted signs on the gates and one parent was brave enough to wear a dinosaur costume in the summer heat and walked along Kew Gardens Road attracting people to come in.

By the end of the day they had given away 59 kits!

It was a remarkable experience and the attached photos will testify to that! It is wonderful when young people show us what is possible, to make our world a better place with pure acts of kindness!

Thank you
